Failure to create new file from right-click on read-write samba share top directory

Version information

Thunar 4.20.2 (Xfce 4.20)

Debian trixie 13.7

samba --version

Version 4.22.11-Debian-4.22.11+dfsg-0+deb13u1

Steps to reproduce

  1. connect Thunar to a samba share (read-write) on another server (also Debian trixie, same samba version on both)
  2. samba share smb://THESERVER/shared - verified that read-write is configured and working
  3. using smb://THESERVER/shared in Thunar (using mouse right-click new file, empty file) fails.
  4. creating the file (same way, right-click, new file, empty file) through the GVFS mount path works, example, load the path /run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=THESERVER,share=shared directly in Thunar.
  5. this suggests the problem is in how Thunar handles the SMB URI location, rather than in Samba's permissions or the server's filesystem.
  6. creating a new directory in that same samba share from remote machine works fine.
  7. using gio to create a new file in share's root directory works, from console: touch ~/empty-test; gio copy ~/empty-test smb://REMOTESVR/shared/empty-test
  8. copying, using the mouse copy from filesystem, then paste into same share root directory works as well.

Current behavior

Right click in the read-write samba share's root directory, Create Document > Empty file, fails to create the file, silently.

Expected outcome

It should be possible in Thunar to right click in the read-write samba share's root directory, and create a new file.
