thunar does not display files in correct order
4.18.8 RELEASE=22.1 Version information
CODENAME=xia EDITION="MATE" DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 22.1 Xia" DESKTOP=Gnome TOOLKIT=GTK NEW_FEATURES_URL=https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_xia_whatsnew.php RELEASE_NOTES_URL=https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_xia.php USER_GUIDE_URL=https://www.linuxmint.com/documentation.php GRUB_TITLE=Linux Mint 22.1 MATE
Steps to reproduce
-
Family photos have several hundred jpeg files of which the following are present in directory Fons 19460904PeterFrohnwedding01.jpg 19460904PeterFrohnwedding02.jpg 19460904PeterFrohnwedding03.jpg 19460904PeterFrohnwedding04.jpg 19460926AlphonseFrohnmarriesReneev.Seters01.jpg 19460926AlphonseFrohnmarriesReneev.Seters02.jpg 19460926AlphonseFrohnmarriesReneev.Seters03.jpg 19460926AlphonseFrohnmarriesReneev.Seters.jpg
-
Open Thunar. NONE of these show up in either icon or list view except AFTER files starting 2021* (depends on what other files are present I believe)
-
Searching for 194609* shows all of them.
Current behavior
As above. (FWIW Caja seems to behave similarly, and also won't open a program I wrote to display jpg comments, but Thunar does, as does Double Commander)
Note that I Refresh / Reload (Ctrl-R) to ensure updated lists.
Expected outcome
We'd like to see the files listed in order so we can work efficiently to open the pictures for editing captions, etc.
Attempts to understand the issue
Original directory has Files: 5654, folders: 27 Deleting directories and files so the directory has Files: 297, folders: 1 the files are then listed. I have NOT tried to carefully check the particular number of files when they show up. Similar behaviour by Caja suggests some common code, which may also be in other file managers.
