Option for inline rename
I had made a post about this in the past which was closed but it was implied that it would be okay to reopen for other developers who may be interested in adding this feature. Rather than reopening that post I decided to make a simpler post (hope this is okay).
The main issue was the concern of using "double code", I was wondering if any other developers know of a way that this could be added without using "double code" because I still feel that this could be a beneficial feature added to Thunar.
SUGGESTION
Suggesting to add an option to be able to allow user to choose between rename dialog and inline rename.
Rename dialog would still remain the default but option would allow users to choose inline rename if preferred.
OTHER LINUX BASED FILE MANAGERS
In other posts I have made, the comparison to other Linux file managers have been made on what is considered to be expected/common behavior.
From what I have experienced, the main Linux Desktop Environment based file managers I have tested in the past seem to use inline rename, so I was hoping that an option to offer this would be considered as well.
SOME FILE MANAGER EXAMPLES
Dolphin = Has option for dialog or inline
Nemo = inline
Caja = inline
Gnome Files / Nautilus = different dialog approach (see image shown below)
I can name more if needed but these are the main ones specifically provided with Desktop Environments.
Hopefully this post can remain open for other developers interested in adding this feature.
