Go to and highlight item when paste path that includes filename into location bar

Currently if you paste a path/filename.ext into your location bar, it just opens that item in the application you have associated with that MIME type.
Would it be considered to instead to just have this go to that location and apply cursor/highlight to that file?
Seems this would fit in a little more with the file manager / use of the location bar, rather than opening the item.
Not sure if anyone else would agree?
