On long filename in dialogs

We have:

• !512 (merged) fixing #1392 (closed),
• !513 (merged) fixing #1412 (closed).

But I see they fix the same issue: the filename is too long to be displayed normally.

Am I correct?

If so, could we unify the solutions?

What about an ellipsis (...) in the middle of the long filename? Yeah, the placeholder can be wider but if it's not enough... The standard solution is the ellipsis, isn't it?
