Cannot delete directory with contents in specific case

This happens to me when interacting with files on my NAS since there is no trash folder for things there to move to:

Steps to reproduce:

• Click "Move to Trash" in context menu for a directory that can't be moved to trash that contains files.
• Get the "Do you want to permanently delete it?" prompt. Say "Yes."
• Get error "Directory not empty."

Enabling "Show action to permanently delete files and folders" and selecting "Delete" from the context menu does not suffer this issue.

I am using Thunar 4.18.10 under awesomewm on Arch Linux.
