Errors on move or copy of broken symlink on remote

Create a symlink to a non-existent file, on a remote.

Now, on copy the symlink to the same remote I get No such file or directory error.

On move or copy the symlink to the local I get Error setting modification or access time. No such file or directory error.

(BTW, LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 Thunar on both. And yes, exactly "copy" and "move or copy", respectively.)
