You know how, if you right-click on a breadcrumbs, it shows a context menu that is basically identical to if you had right-clicked on the folder itself?
Well it turns out that, unlike right-clicking on a folder, one cannot do a right-click drag-and-drop from the toolbar breadcrumbs themselves (which is something I tried to to recently when I wanted to make a shortcut from the folder I was already viewing).
By contrast, one can still do a left-click drag-and-drop while holding shift, ctrl, or shift+ctrl to perform the usual "copy, link, etc" actions that you'd normally have access to when doing a right-click drag-and-drop.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/866Breadcrumbs toolbar doesn't scroll when in the middle of trying to drag&drop ...2022-08-20T21:31:12ZNM64Breadcrumbs toolbar doesn't scroll when in the middle of trying to drag&drop a file(tested with Thunar 4.16.10 on a live session of Mint 21.0 Xfce as well as Thunar 4.16.11 on a live session of Manjaro 21.3.6)

Simply put, when you are in the middle of trying to drag-and-drop a file into Thunar, if you hover your mouse cursor over the scroll buttons located on the left and right side of the breadcrumbs toolbar, the breadcrumbs toolbar does not scroll.
This is most easily confirmed by just shrinking your Thunar window to the point that only the current directory is listed on the breadcrumbs toolbar.
For reference, at least Caja v1.26.0 and Nemo v5.4.2 do in fact properly scroll the breadcrumbs toolbar if you hover your mouse cursor over the scroll buttons located on the left and right of the breadcrumbs toolbar when in the middle of a drag-and-drop operation.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/865List View Drag and Drop: Only drop into subfolders when the mouse targets the...2022-08-20T09:04:17ZNM64List View Drag and Drop: Only drop into subfolders when the mouse targets the subfolder icon(tested with Thunar 4.16.10 on a live session of Mint 21.0 Xfce as well as Thunar 4.16.11 on a live session of Manjaro 21.3.6 Xfce)

Currently, if you're viewing a directory with a _lot_ of folders in "List view", it can quite difficult to do a simple drag-and-drop of a file or folder into the currently-open directory, particularly if the current directory has a very short file name or if the location selector is set to "Pathbar Style".
I have edited two screenshots visually to more easily explain the issue:
![toolbar](/uploads/3f7e80391b5c69f004eaa776d11d3b15/toolbar.png)
![screenshot](/uploads/451e0dd9eb0fb4dbefdaff9e1eb3cc48/screenshot.png)
When dragging a file, releasing your mouse button into the red-colored areas straight-up just cancels the operation while releasing your mouse button in the yellow-colored areas performs a different operation than the one we're trying to do (it will pin the dragged item onto the side pane and/or drop it into the folder you dragged it on top of rather than into the current directory).
Only the blue-colored and green-colored areas actually work for dragging-and-dropping the file into the current directory but, with specifically the blue-colored areas, dragging into this area causes Thunar to scroll its view up until it either reaches the top or you let go of your mouse button. Similarly, as alluded to above, the green-colored area can itself be a bit troublesome when dealing with really small folder names, possibly most common with single-digit numbers (e.g. `1`, `2`, etc), not to mention that the breadcrumbs are not even visible if you have the location selector set to "Pathbar Style".
The purple-colored areas currently do nothing but, as I describe in #866, I personally think they should at least scroll the breadcrumbs toolbar if you hover your cursor over them while in the middle of a drag operation like it does in Caja and Nemo, if not also allow placing a dragged file into the current directory if there are no directories listed to the left or right of the current directory on the breadcrumbs toolbar.
So with all of that being said, my suggestion is simple - when dragging a file or folder into Thunar, if you release your mouse button in any of the red-colored areas, the file or folder should be placed into the current directory.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/539Toolbar Style Path Strange Behaviour2022-12-01T17:49:24ZDavid ScottToolbar Style Path Strange BehaviourUsing Thunar 4.16.5 with Manjaro. Thunar is using List View and the Location Selector is set to Toolbar Style.
Renaming and moving a file to another Thunar window changes the current directory shown in the location selector of the origin Thunar window.
SETUP:
Two Thunar windows, side by side. One window shows a bunch of TV shows and a subtitle folder. The other window is opened to the subtitle folder. The location selector shows the directory containing the subtitles as it should.
ACTION:
I rename one of the subtitles. No problem.
Then I drag it to the other window containing the video files.
RESULT:
The location selector for the subtitle window then changes (it goes up two levels in my latest testing). The location selector should stay focused on the subtitle directory but the drag and drop out of the window is triggering a refocus to another location.
Instead of being able to rename the next subtitle file, I have to navigate back to the directory.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/272Incorrect files selection and incorrect thumbnails after drag & drop2023-04-29T10:03:53ZBugzilla MigrationIncorrect files selection and incorrect thumbnails after drag & drop## Submitted by Alexander Kurakin

Allow User Custom Actions for the right click drag menu.
This would require making new % replacements. Here are examples, the letters are debatable.
%l -> The last full path of the first selected file
%L -> The last full path of the all selected files (separated by spaces and their own spaces escaped)
Optionally, also this:
%g -> The directory containing the file passed in %l
%G -> The directory containing the files passed in %l
If the nodes are not moved, these options still appear and these substitutions behave the same as their counter-parts %f, %F, %d, %D.
%G is only there for completions sake... It can easily make no sense at all as %G and %g are exact same.
As for deciding if this UCA appears in the drag and drop menu, just search if any of %g, %G, %l, %L are used... At least, as a first intention.
There can also be a hidden option about this for whoever wants to customize.
In my use-case, I'd to order a compression of files from one directory to another (In this case, essentially, reducing the total time it takes and possibly not having to have a copy of the same on disk)https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/148Under Detailed List view, drag / rubberband multiple file selection must be s...2023-08-19T10:36:01ZBugzilla MigrationUnder Detailed List view, drag / rubberband multiple file selection must be started on a non-Name column## Submitted by j.l..@..il.com

## Description
Hi, on latest Xubuntu LTS (16.04.1, Thunar 1.6.10) there seems to be some misleading behavior of Thunar's drag / rubberband multiple file selection when using Detailed List view.
It's a known lacking feature of GTK (see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138931 and https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1996) to start the drag on the empty area beneath the files, but according to the docs (http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/working-with-files-and-folders) it should work if started on a file/folder name - but it doesn't.
I can only get it to work if I start the drag from any non-Name column - which is not very intuitive. Here's an image to illustrate the problem http://stuff.is-a-geek.net/random/Thunar1.png (image found at https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2326193).
The current docs read:
"You can also select multiple files and folders by using the mouse to drag a selection box over them. Note: If you are using View as a Detailed List in the Main Area, you must first position the mouse over a file/folder name (not in the whitespace) before dragging."
I suggest the following clarification patch (changes in ALL CAPS):
"You can also select multiple files and folders by using the mouse to drag a selection box over them. Note: If you are using View as a Detailed List in the Main Area, you must first position the mouse over a file/folder ROW (not in the whitespace BELOW) AND IN A COLUMN OTHER THAN NAME (SIZE, TYPE, MODIFIED DATE, ETC. WILL ALL WORK) before dragging."

## Description
I am running on Windows 7, with XUbuntu 14.04 running in a VirtualBox VM. I have replicated this on versions of VirtualBox from 4.3.22 to 5.0.
VirtualBox supports drag-and-drop from the host to the guest VM. It is possible to drag-and-drop files from the host to the XUbuntu desktop, and to various applications including Geany which can act as drag-and-drop targets.
However Thunar windows are not shown as drag-and-drop targets (mouse pointer is a no-entry sign), and dropping on a Thunar window does nothing.
How drag-and-drop should be implemented is a Linux desktop standard. Since other GTK-based applications can receive drag-and-drop from VirtualBox and Thunar can't, my first guess is that this is a bug in Thunar.
Give me a shout if you have any debug code you'd like me to try. Do be aware though that I'm not a hugely experienced Linux user, and my day job is writing software for a living, not maintaining Linux! :) I'm happy to try stuff and report back with log files, but I don't have the experience or bandwidth to do kernel rebuilds or stuff like that.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/105Thunar 1.6.3 drag and drop to devices doesn't run2021-03-17T21:00:16ZBugzilla MigrationThunar 1.6.3 drag and drop to devices doesn't run## Submitted by Yaen Pujol

## Description
Issue:
Before editing an important file, it is usually good practice first to make a copy.
In Thunar, copying a file within a given folder can only be performed through copy + paste. Copy + paste, however, overwrites the clipboard which may contain valuable information still to be used later.
The Nemo file manager and the Nautilus file manager, amongst others, also allow CTRL + drag to copy a file within any given folder. CTRL + drag does not write to the clipboard. (Thunar thus far only facilitates CTRL + drag between two different folders.)
Solution:
Add CTRL + drag functionality to copy files within a folder to Thunar.

If you drag a location button, it does not provide the same targets as dragging an icon of a file.
This prevents some convenient drag-and-drop capabilities. To enter a folder in the GTK file manager, I can drag that folder's icon into the file manager and it'll go there. However, I cannot drag the location bar buttons into a file chooser for the same effect -- the result is that I have to move up a folder and drag an icon if I want to make use of this.
It would be nice if the location buttons would provide the same drop targets as the file icons.
For reference, this ability works in Nautilus.

One neat feature in Konqueror is the way it handles drag and drop of files in regard to directories: if you drag one or more file(s) over a directory’s icon and stay there for a second, Konqueror enters that directory while you keep the file(s) dragged. This way you can drag and drop files through large directory hierarchies with just one click.
At the moment the only way to do this is to cut and paste the file(s). I think Thunar should also implement this feature.
