Notification on clicking unmount disappears very rapidly

When users right-click on a USB drive to unmount it, there is a very, very brief flash of a notification.
But, because it is so brief the contents of the notification cannot be read.
I have described the issue in more detail in the following links: http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=32564#p32564 and http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2214432 along with an image of the notification which I got by trying to unmount a USB device which was in use.
