'sudo Thunar' locks up input on desktop
Xfce 4.16 on Arch Linux
Steps to reproduce:
- Ensure there are no active sudo tickets by executing:
sudo -k
- Ensure there are no GUI applications installed for handling elevated authentication, e.g. gksu
- From Xfce Panel's Applications Menu (Run Program / Application Finder) or from Whisker Menu execute the command:
sudo Thunar
. At this point it appears that the mouse has been grabbed and no further input is possible. - Switch to another VT to get a console. Try to kill the sudo process. It will become defunct.
If sudo ticket is valid, Thunar opens without issues. And of course running this from a terminal application doesn't cause problems.
