Editing Audio File Properties (ID3 Tags) on Remote SMB File Crashes Thunar About Half of the Time
Hello,
Thunar freezes and crashes whenever I modify the ID3 tag information for an audio file located on a NAS drive on my local network (accessed via SMB) when I click "Save" on the "Audio" tab of the Thunar Properties dialog. The changes I make do always save, but half of the time the window becomes unresponsive and x11 tells me the window is frozen and asks if I would like to force-abort Thunar. The files are located on a shared drive connected to my local network. The smb-shared drive has no access security restrictions/no credentials are needed.
I have looked everywhere I can think of to look for a Thunar or system log file that has caught this error but I can't anything that seems pertinent in any of the following locations/files:
- ~/.xsession-errors
- /var/log/Xorg.0.log
- /var/log/user.log
- /var/log/kern.log
- ~/.config/Thunar/
It would be great if when a new "Issue" was created on here if this forum would tell you where log files are located so they can easily be attached.
I am running Thunar version 1.8.17 (Xfce 4.14), which is built-in to the latest version of my Linux distribution:
Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2 tk: Gtk 3.24.5 info: xfce4-panel wm: xfwm4 dm: LightDM 1.26.0
Distro: MX-19.4_x64 patito feo May 31 2020 base: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
Thank you for your help!
