Today I just discovered that it actually is in fact possible to add separators to basically anywhere in the Whisker menu, *except* for the "Favorites" category.
So my suggestion is a simple one—the ability to add separators to the "Favorites" category.https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/-/issues/112Can't resize using mouse since 2.8.02024-02-23T17:42:53ZBłażej SzczygiełCan't resize using mouse since 2.8.0> Replace resize widgets with options in settings dialog.

## Description
As 'Log Out' is to log out the user and 'Log Out...' is to show a variety of options to log out, like shutdown, restart, etc. they should have different icons in the commands area of the whisker menu.
A similar bug is filed with xubuntu's elementary icon theme to create separate icons for each.
https://github.com/shimmerproject/elementary-xfce/issues/189
This is a one line change once a separate icon is created on one of these two lines with CommandLogOutUser or CommandLogOut.

It is a bit complicated to run programs, when they have similar names.
Like **calc** = LibreOffice **Calc** / MATE **Calc**ulator.
I'd like to remember my manual change of preference.
I mean when I search using keyword `calc`, then use arrow to select **MATE Calculator** rather than LibreOffice Calc, and confirm it with enter (it's second in result list), remember it, and next time put it first.
I know I can use launchers like Kupfer, .... But it would be really great to be able to use it in what we already have rather than adding another application just for it.

This did not work well for me because I have placed the menu on my right of a center panel. The reason for placing it on my right is because my mouse is on my right. If i had placed it on the left like windows xp it would work because the menu would open to the right.
I request for you give users option to align the whiskermenu to open either left, center or right. see attached image.

Additionally, it would be quite useful to include a maximized/fullscreen option to automatically maximize whiskermenu according to the screen size. which works because the item selection always starts at the topmost item. However, when I open the menu via keyboard shortcut and the mouse cursor happens to be over some other item, that item is selected first and then the starting point for my key navigtion is wrong/unpredictable.
Could the item selection when opening the menu perhaps be triggered by mouse move only instead of current mouse position?
Issue #54 might be related, although I think that one was referring to changing selection while typing whereas I can only observe this once (*) when opening the menu.
(*) Actually the selection based on mouse position seems to be re-triggered once after a few tens of a second (can see it flickering). If I try to start xfce-plugin-whiskermenu from a terminal, nothing Happens. There isn't any error message, I just get back to the prompt. It seems it will only load via a shortcut key or if you start it from the XFCE Panel.
I would like to start it via hot-corners, & for that it needs to open up via a terminal command. I don't really see why it would work with a shortcut key & not via a terminal window? Is it possible to add such a functionality to the Whiskermenu?
For example, it is no problem with the standard XFCE menu. There I can use "xfdesktop -M show-near-mouse" & it opens up.
I'm trying to get this to work on Debian stable (bookworm), & Testing, built from the minimal net install iso, with XFCE4 installed manually.
Thanks for any help,

`#whiskermenu-window { font-size: 120%; }` in gtk.css helped to increase all font sizes, but the settings/lock screen/logout buttons remained small:
![whisker_iconsdude0](/uploads/b6371ca1de4ccc226e7f96ece26e677f/whisker_iconsdude0.png)
I fixed this by adding `#whiskermenu-window .title-area button image { -gtk-icon-transform: scale(1.33); }`, which gives slightly blurry results due to the nature of gtk-icon-transform, which does a pixel resize instead of vector graphics redrawing.
It would be great if Whisker Menu would automatically sizes these three buttons to the max. available height. With Whisker menu this does not work really well because if the option to have the menu stay visible when the focus is lost is not activated, then the menu will close as soon as the mouse exits the boundaries of the menu (if there is another window underneath) and, if this option is set, then it requires a click on the menu icon to close, which is also annoying.
Could there be an option to close the menu only a click happens outside of the menu or, if this is not possible, when another window is raised above the menu (which I suppose can be seen by polling XQueryTree regularly, even if it’s not very elegant). I gues that this would work except for clicks on the desktop itself.
Otherwise, maybe just adding a small delay (configurable or not) before the menu closes when the focus is lost would help for cases when the mouses briefly exit the menu boundaries by mistake.https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/-/issues/37[Feature Request] Custom panel icon size2022-08-10T20:26:33ZTomas Chrastina[Feature Request] Custom panel icon sizeIt would be nice to have an option to set custom size for icon in panel.

Add whiskermenu to the Xfce panel if not already there.
Open whisker menu
Launch a heavy application like Firefox/Thunderbird that takes a while to launch.
Quickly reopen the whisker menu (before Firefox/Thunderbird window is visible).
Notice how the whisker menu is closed automatically.
To compare with something else the Applications Menu plugin does not close automatically.
I guess it might be way it works in Windows but it makes it feel like the user is not in control.

I'll see if I can do some more research on how to prevent this myself, but it seems that you can only really disable resizing windows all together with GTK, rather than just the action of fullscreening them via the window manager.
