[UX] Switching audio output device
Problem: Inconvenient switching of audio output devices. Very long in some cases.
Example: We have speakers connected via HDMI and headphones connected to the monitor. Both devices are connected to a video card source. In order to switch from the speakers to the headphones connected to the monitor we need:
- Press the button in the panel
- Press the sound mixer
- Press the right arrow button twice (at standard window size)
- Press the video card profiles
- Select the desired device from the large list A total of 5-6 clicks is all it takes to switch between the devices connected to the same source. In some scenarios this may happen very often. And don't forget the size of the elements, you have to hit it well with the mouse.
Solution: Instead of a panel with small elements, make normal large icons for favourite devices that the user chooses. By default, display the previously selected audio output interfaces. Even then, switching will be faster than selecting an interface from a list.
Example implementation:
Mute the source with a single or double click on the device icon. Make the mixer as an icon, or leave the bottom line.
