Plugin installs but doesn't add to panel

Installation runs without errors, although ninja only reports [1/3], so maybe not completed? Indicator plugin appears in Panel/Add New Items, but selecting it and then 'Add' doesn't do anything. Looking at Settings/Panel/Panel Preferences/Items, there is now an entry for Indicator plugin (external), even though it hasn't been added.
