User expectations may also differ, they may not expect it to be inside tags. For instance they might expect to see a second script for clicks, then skim https://docs.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-genmon-plugin/start#usage but not notice the <txtscript> etc because it's a sub-list element. Also maybe better to add a second paragraph at the top mentioning that it can launch scripts.
Possibly also an info button before the "Command" label or below that a label "For launching scripts on-click see documentation."https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-genmon-plugin/-/issues/27Release tarball missing scripts directory2023-08-17T23:57:43ZUnit 193Release tarball missing scripts directoryHowdy,

This would enable stuff like `<txt>${song}</txt><txtclick>playerctl play-pause</txtclick><mouseWheelUp>playerctl volume 0.1+</mouseWheelUp><mouseWheelDown>playerctl volume 0.1-</mouseWheelDown>` putting a mini musik player on your task bar where you can play/pause and scroll the volume

Example use cases:
- A) TOTP token that is displayed in dashboard
- The TOTP token "click" could trigger a script that copies to clipboard with xclip
- B) Some monitor/metric/alert
- The Alert case could do an xdg-open of a web page URL.
If there would be interest in accepting this functionality, I'd be open to trying to put together a PR to accomplish it.https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-genmon-plugin/-/issues/19xcfe4-genmon-plugin cannot execute the dig command2022-06-11T18:16:18ZEnrique Garciaxcfe4-genmon-plugin cannot execute the dig commandIf a dig command is configured to be displayed by the generic monitor, like this:

`dig gitlab.xfce.org`
an error is shown:
`dig: ./src/unix/core.c:570: uv__close: Assertion `fd > STDERR_FILENO' failed.`
This doesn't seem to be a problem in dig itself, but a problem in the way xfce-genmon-plugin handles the file descriptors (see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1000793 for some discussion).https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-genmon-plugin/-/issues/18genmon plugin doesn't appear after restart2021-06-12T12:08:32ZKlaumi Klingsporngenmon plugin doesn't appear after restartAs orage is no longer supported by xfce 4.16 I use korganizer now and created an instance of genmon-plugin in my panel, which points to a script to show a small calender via ncal and my appointments of the next two days via konsolekalend...As orage is no longer supported by xfce 4.16 I use korganizer now and created an instance of genmon-plugin in my panel, which points to a script to show a small calender via ncal and my appointments of the next two days via konsolekalendar while hover the genmon-icon (icon, tool) and which opens korganizer when clicking on the icon (iconclick).
But when I restart xfce the defined genmon-icon doesn't appear on the panel.
When I check with a task-manager, I can see an instance of genmon-plugin running although it does't appear in the panel. When I terminate this running process, the genmon-plugin is restarted by the xfce-session-management and now it also appears in my panel and works just fine.
Over the time it becomes a little bit annoying to do this every time I start my desktop!
Here's my script I run with genmon-plugin (but I think, it has nothing to do with it):
---snipp ----
#! /bin/sh
# script für Terminanzeige etc. im xfce4-genmon-plugin
# by klaumi

echo "<icon>xfcalendar</icon>"
echo "<tool><b>$(date +"%A, %d. %B %Y (KW %V)")</b>\n\n<tt><small>$(ncal -bhM)</small></tt>\n<b><i>Termine heute und morgen:</i></b>\n\n<small>$(konsolekalendar --export-type Short --show-next 1)</small></tool>"
echo "<iconclick>korganizer</iconclick>"
exit 0
---snipp ----
Would be nice if this bug could be fixed.
