Clipman fails when xfce4-panel starts

Xubuntu 20.04.3 Clipman 1.4.4

I only recently installed clipman and placed it on the panel. Every time I login and the panel starts, I get a pop-up dialog which states:

Plugin clipman unexpectedly left the panel, do you want to restart it?

This is followed by more text that indicates that the plugin attempted to start more than once. There are two options: Restart or Remove from panel. I did get it to successfully restart once, but most times it just continues to fail over and over upon "restart" so I remove it and then have to reinstall it manually for the current session. At this point it seems to work properly. It is not clear to me what is happening upon startup, but here are some error messages in the log files:

/var/log/apport.log:

Is this a known problem?
