the first widget to add would be a small applet that runs a shell commmand (or script) and prints the result. this way, you could make quick and dirty widgets that do specific things.
i'm not sure how best to implement this in the project, but it would be a very useful feature.Stephan HallerStephan Hallerhttps://gitlab.xfce.org/apps/xfdashboard/-/issues/27thumbnails do not show properly2023-08-16T10:27:24Zdanielfilipiukthumbnails do not show properlythumbnails do not show properly, when window is selected, it is generated in later use of dashboard, if the screen changes, thumbnail is not generated again.

Reason:
Right now, I can change focus between Favourites, main area and desktops, and cycle through their elements. I can't (seem to) change from window to application mode, or change focus to their miniscule selection tools.
For me, the selection between application and window mode is essential, yet it has the smallest UI element. I tried to add a favorite by right clicking a focused app in the quicklaunch bar, dragging from the apps menu and by dragging an open window, but it does not get created.
The right click from a focused app in the quicklaunch makes the icon disappear from the quicklaunch. It doesn't close the app, just makes the icon disappear. Then I exit the dashboard and when I reopen the dashboard the quicklaunch icon is back.

With multiple windows of the same application open in different workspaces, when you right click the focused quicklaunch item and select one of the instances not in the current workspace it doesn't take you to that workspace. It just closes the dashboard and leaves you in the current workspace.
When you click on the focused quicklaunch icon without right clicking and selecting another instance, you get taken to the workspace of the first opened instance of the application instead of the one in the current workspace.

When you click a workspace in the workspace selector, it takes you to that workspace. I would like to have the dashboard show the open windows on the selected workspace instead of sending me to that workspace.
Would it be possible to have an action option in the settings to accomplish this function? Maybe offer a popup menu to select the action when you click on the workspace in the workspace selector?

(you may ask why : easy. I set up shortcuts for speed up my workflow. Any animation is a slowdown. Using xfdashboard is for me a way to speed up the 'alt tab' usual thing, in less clumsy way... but having to wait for window to grow up is just boring)Stephan HallerStephan Haller
