Feature request: Search in web
Hi, I propose to implement a useful killer feature of searching in the web for a selected piece of text from terminal emulator window.
Example of work
- Select text -> right click -> on dropdown select search engine -> xdg-open search url
- Select text -> press hotkey -> xdg-open search url
In the settings menu, add a tab for search settings:
- Add search engine menu:
- Search engine name;
- Configure url for search query;
- Set an icon (by default try to get a favicon, otherwise nothing);
- Set a hotkey to search the selected text using this engine;
- Checkbox to disable display of this item in the drop-down menu;
- Checkbox to set as your default search engine.
- Set a hotkey to search the selected text with default search engine.
- Checkbox to disable display all search items in the drop-down menu.
- Checkbox to enable browser opening notification.
- Select custom app to open url (if not installed use default xdg-open with mime type).
It will also be good if search engines can be sorted or have a priority parameter for the order in which the list is generated.
Agree, it will be much easier this way to search for errors from the logs or values from configs in google, stackoverflow and github.
I hope you appreciate this suggestion and that this functionality will appear in the next release.
