Feature request - More comprehensive panel details saved with backups
I did a fresh reinstall to version 34 of Fedora with XFCE 4.16, I believe version 33 had the previous version of XFCE. I backed up my panel layout with the export function and after the installation was complete, I loaded the backup with the import function. The layout itself is the same as it was, but some of my launchers were missing from the import.
On one panel I had I believe 5 launchers, one for terminal, one for Thunar, and 3 for launching separate programs which aren't related to XFCE at all. After the import, only the terminal and Thunar launchers were there (there weren't placeholders for the other 3 or anything), and I had to remake the rest.
Also, on another panel I had several genmon plugins. After importing, the genmons were still there, but were just blank placeholders (reading (genmon)XXX) with no reference to what the previous genmon commands or timers were.
I'm not sure how or where such things are saved, but would recommend seeing if there is some way to improve this backup process to account for the items on the panel better. It seems like it's possible in some cases, given that 2 of the 5 launchers on one panel were retained. I should also note that I had other launchers which were retained with no issues, including several with launchers having a dropdown list of multiple programs, so I'm not sure why those were saved correctly but 3 of the 5 lone launchers on another panel weren't.
