Behavior of window size and image scaling

If i open an image with Viewnior or Ristretto, in Viewnior it looks like this:

while in Ristretto it looks like this:

Another thing i observed, if i open a 1000x4000 landscape it displays in 1000x250 (because i opened an image of that size previously), i resize the window & image, close, then open a 500x750 clipart, the clipart is shown scaled correctly but on a white canvas the previous size.

So i guess Ristretto remembers previous window size and restricts the image size to the window size?

Even if i missunderstand Ristretto as an image viewer while it wants to be an imgage manager, the expected behavior on opening with an image would be to:

• ignore previous window size
• scale image 100% (if smaller than display size)

But i guess a setting "remember window size" you can uncheck would suffice.
