parole won't start

parole wouldn't start. error messages were not relevant. I deleted the file: .local/share/xfce4/parole/auto-saved-playlist.m3u then it worked fine.

Yesterday I tried to launch parole, it would start. This is what I get from the terminal: jerzy@jerzy-pc:~$ parole

jerzy@jerzy-pc:~/.local/share/xfce4/parole$ sudo rm auto-saved-playlist.m3u
Removing this playlist solved this issue. All is well now.

Parole 1.0.1 on XUbuntu 18.04 with plenty of RAM, CPU, and HDD storage...
refuses to play webm videos for me. I can open Parole, but then it gives this error: "Parole needs application/x-subtitle-unknown decoder to play this file. It can be installed automatically." Then I click the "Install" button, but it never does install. Is there a way to install this decoder manually? also, why do I need a subtitle decoder when there is no subtitle at all? thanks
P.S. the webm files are good, as they will play in browsers and other video players, but I prefer Parole.
I don't think your problem is related to this issue, perhaps this bug explains why that automatic installation doesn't work.
You probably need to install packages for gstreamer plugins.
