Default File Extension

An optional default file extension would be great.

IE, I hit save on a new file and the caret for the filename was before .txt

Could be based on guessed contents, yes… Personally, I don't really like extension proposals: you never know if it's going to be added or not, or duplicated if you put one yourself… But we can leave this open.
